Two Lawrence Bishnoi gang members killed in Delhi and Haryana police encounter

Two wanted criminals associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang were killed during a joint encounter by the Delhi Police Counter Intelligence Special Cell and the Haryana Police Special Task Force in Bahadurgarh on Thursday, July 2, 2026. A police officer was also injured in the exchange of fire during the operation.
The deceased suspects have been identified as Pravesh, a resident of Tibba Danasher in Hisar, and Himanshu, son of Sushil Kumar from village Jakhod Khera in Hisar. Both individuals carried a bounty reward of ₹1 lakh each on their heads. They were accused in the murder of Hansi gym owner Kapil on June 11.
According to the police, the operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs indicating that both suspects were present in Bahadurgarh. The inputs suggested they were armed with sophisticated weapons and planning to commit a serious offence.
A joint team consisting of the Haryana Police Special Task Force Bahadurgarh and the Delhi Police Counter Intelligence Special Cell moved to surround the suspects. Upon spotting the police team, the accused opened indiscriminate fire.
In response, the police team retaliated in self-defence. During the exchange of fire, both suspects and one police personnel sustained gunshot wounds. Bullets also struck the bulletproof jackets of four other police officers, which prevented further casualties.
All three injured individuals were rushed to a hospital. Doctors declared Pravesh and Himanshu dead during treatment. The injured police officer remains in stable condition.
Following the encounter, police recovered weapons and other evidence from the scene. Investigation and further legal proceedings are currently underway.
Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Ajay Singhal stated that the operation was conducted in accordance with Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s zero-tolerance policy towards crime. The DGP praised the police teams for demonstrating exceptional courage, restraint, and professional competence, and wished the injured officer a speedy recovery.
