Bus Driver, Conductor Arrested for Gang-Raping Teen Picked Up from Pari Chowk
A 16-year-old student travelling to Noida was allegedly gang-raped inside an empty sleeper bus after seeking help from its driver and conductor at Pari Chowk during heavy rain on August 4, police said. The two accused were subsequently arrested after dumping the victim near the Kashmere Gate bus terminal in Delhi.
The victim, a Class 11 student from Uttar Pradesh's Mainpuri district, had left her home on August 4 after being reprimanded by her mother. She took a bus intending to visit her cousin residing in Noida Sector 63. Due to darkness and heavy rain, she mistakenly got off the bus at Pari Chowk in Greater Noida.
After realising she had alighted at the wrong location, she signalled an approaching sleeper bus for assistance. Although there were no passengers on board, the conductor informed her that the vehicle was heading towards Noida Sector 63. She boarded the bus, but shortly after it moved, the conductor began making obscene advances.
According to police sources, both the driver and the conductor gang-raped the teenager inside the bus and threatened to kill her if she resisted. The accused drove towards Delhi, abandoned her late at night on Ring Road near the Kashmere Gate bus terminal, and fled the scene.
The teenager approached the Kashmere Gate police station and reported the crime. An FIR was registered under sections pertaining to gang rape, kidnapping, and assault. She was taken for a medical examination accompanied by a woman police officer, and her family was informed and brought to Delhi.
Investigators tracked the bus using CCTV footage and arrested the conductor from a parking facility in Timarpur. Police also seized the bus for forensic examination and conducted potency tests on the accused.
Police said the empty bus had developed a mechanical issue earlier that day and was returning to the Timarpur parking facility after undergoing repairs at a workshop in Surajpur when the crew encountered the girl at Pari Chowk.
