Two Arrested As Police Bust Fake Vehicle Scrapping Racket In Rohini

The Delhi Police have busted a fake end-of-life vehicle (ELV) removal racket following the arrest of a 24-year-old suspect in Rohini on July 3. The suspect, a former employee of an authorized vehicle scrapping agency, allegedly posed as a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) official and used forged removal orders to steal old two-wheelers from across the city.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Adnan Saifi, 24, a resident of Tihar village, and Akram, 43, a scrap dealer from Aligarh who operated from Mayapuri. According to the police, Saifi was arrested in Rohini while in possession of a stolen scooty.
The fraudulent operation came to light after a complainant reported that his 15-year-old scooty had gone missing from Paharganj on June 20. At the spot where the vehicle had been parked, a removal order-purportedly issued by the MCD’s Karol Bagh Zone-had been pasted. However, when the police verified the document with the civic body, the MCD confirmed that no such removal had taken place and the document was entirely forged. An FIR was subsequently registered.
During the investigation, police scanned CCTV footage from the area which captured two men removing the vehicle. One of the suspects was identified as Saifi, who had previously worked as a daily-wage employee for M/S Go Green ELV Handlers, an authorized agency responsible for lifting end-of-life vehicles in the city.
DCP (Central) Rohit Rajbir Singh stated that Saifi was apprehended in Rohini on July 3 with the stolen scooty in his possession. During interrogation, Saifi confessed that after leaving his employment at the authorized agency, he exploited his insider knowledge of the ELV removal process. He admitted to posing as an MCD official and using fabricated documents to steal old two-wheelers, which were then passed on to Akram.
