Three Indian cobra hatchlings born at Delhi Zoo in first successful breeding in 15 years

Three Indian cobra hatchlings were successfully born through incubation at the National Zoological Park, also known as the Delhi Zoo, in New Delhi. The hatchlings emerged on June 29 and June 30, marking the first successful breeding of cobras at the facility in nearly 15 years.
According to zoo officials, the successful hatching occurred after a carefully managed incubation period. The entire process was conducted under the direct and careful supervision of the Delhi Zoo's veterinary and animal care teams.
All three hatchlings are currently active and healthy. Zoo officials confirmed that the young cobras are being maintained in a secure, species-appropriate environment. This specialized enclosure is designed to provide optimal temperature and humidity levels, and the staff is keeping the hatchlings under continuous monitoring to ensure their well-being.
The breeding success also integrated academic research through the Delhi Zoo's internship programme. Under this initiative, two interns are currently working at the zoo to conduct studies on reptile behaviour and incubation.
In an official statement, the Delhi Zoo emphasized its ongoing commitment to conservation, education, and public awareness. The institution stated that it continues to work towards promoting a scientific understanding of reptiles and encouraging human coexistence with these ecologically important animals.
