Three arrested for Wazirabad murder after hand tattoos help identify victim

The Delhi Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the revenge murder of a 34-year-old man whose body was discovered in the Yamuna Khadar area of Wazirabad, Delhi. The victim, identified as Chandan Saini, was invited for drinks and stabbed to death in a forest on the intervening night of May 20 and May 21. His body, which bore multiple stab wounds, was found on May 21.
Saini was a resident of Nehru Vihar in north Delhi. Because his face was severely disfigured and mutilated beyond recognition, identifying him was initially a difficult task for the local police. However, a tattoo on his hand featuring two names and a symbol provided investigators with a crucial clue.
The police circulated the image of the hand tattoo locally, which eventually enabled them to establish Saini's identity. Further verification of his background revealed that Saini was a listed bad character at the Timarpur police station. He had been previously involved in five criminal cases, which included snatching, burglary, and theft.
An FIR for murder was registered at the Wazirabad police station. Following this, joint police teams were formed to investigate the case and trace the accused persons.
As part of the investigation, police officers scanned CCTV footage from Saini's neighbourhood as well as the routes leading to the crime scene in Yamuna Khadar. The footage captured Saini boarding an autorickshaw outside his house on the intervening night of May 20 and May 21.
Although the registration number of the autorickshaw could not be identified from the footage, police established that Saini had willingly left his home with the occupants of the vehicle. The investigation ultimately led to the arrest of the three suspects and the resolution of the revenge murder plot.
