Producers Guild Warns Actors of Serious Consequences for Last Minute Walkouts

The Producers Guild of India has issued a formal warning to actors and industry talent regarding "serious consequences" for last-minute project walkouts. The statement, released on June 3, 2026, follows a growing controversy surrounding the upcoming film 'Don 3' and formal complaints filed by prominent production houses.

The guild's intervention addresses what it describes as a rising trend of actors, directors, and technicians backing out of their professional commitments at the eleventh hour. Although the official statement did not explicitly name actor Ranveer Singh, it was issued following grievances submitted by Excel Entertainment and Panorama Studios International, both of which are central to the ongoing 'Don 3' dispute.

According to the Producers Guild of India, these abrupt departures have created significant disruption, prompting the organization to step in to enforce professional accountability. The guild confirmed that it has received formal complaints from its members, bringing the matter into the domain of industry governance.

In its official statement, the guild noted, "There have been growing instances of talent, directors, and technicians reneging on their commitments to producers, often at the eleventh hour. We, the Producers Guild of India, have also received formal complaints from our members, Excel Entertainment."

The dispute has also drawn reactions from other industry figures. Filmmaker Nikhil Dwivedi questioned a non-cooperation directive issued by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) against Ranveer Singh in connection with the 'Don 3' dispute. Dwivedi raised concerns over the directive, arguing that such measures stop an individual's livelihood.

The warning from the Producers Guild highlights the escalating tensions between producers and talent over project commitments in the Hindi film industry. By addressing the formal complaints from Excel Entertainment and Panorama Studios International, the guild signals a collective shift toward stricter enforcement of contract compliance and professional standards.
