Jobless man kills wife with tawa in Najafgarh, confesses to police

A 48-year-old jobless man allegedly killed his 43-year-old wife with a tawa (griddle) at their home in Gopal Nagar, Najafgarh, in southwest Delhi, following a late-night argument. The incident took place around midnight, after which the husband walked into a local police station on Sunday morning to confess to the crime.
According to the Delhi Police, the accused arrived at the Baba Haridass Nagar police station during the morning hours on Sunday. He approached the duty officer on duty and disclosed that he had killed his wife at their residence. Following this confession, the police immediately detained the man and booked him under charges of murder.
During preliminary questioning by the investigators, the accused revealed that he is currently unemployed and has been suffering from schizophrenia. He told the police that he has been undergoing medical treatment for this psychiatric condition at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for the past two to three years.
The Delhi Police are now verifying the medical history provided by the accused. Investigators are in the process of collecting all necessary medical documents from the man to confirm his diagnosis and treatment history at the hospital. Additionally, the police are looking into whether the accused was off his medications at the time the crime was committed.
Further inquiry by the police revealed that the couple had been married since 2005. The deceased woman was employed at a private company. The couple has two sons together. Their elder son is currently preparing for engineering entrance examinations, while their younger son is a student in Class 5.
The investigation into the murder is ongoing as the police continue to verify the facts surrounding the incident, the couple's domestic life, and the medical status of the detained accused.
