Gurugram Tech Worker Among Four Dead in Rampur Car Crash on Office Trip

Four Delhi-based IT professionals, including a network engineer who worked in Gurugram, were killed and three others were seriously injured early Saturday morning when their car crashed into a parked truck in the Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh. The victims were part of a 12-member group traveling from Delhi to Corbett National Park on an office-sponsored reward trip.

The deceased have been identified as Abhishek Agnihotri, 28, Kartik Rajput, 32, Neeraj Singh, 31, and Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, 27. Hekmatyar had been working as a network engineer for an internet service provider company in Gurugram for the past five years. The three injured passengers, identified as Kamal, Vishal, and Jatin, were initially treated at a local community health centre before being referred to the Rampur district hospital for further medical care.

According to the police, the group consisted of employees and business-to-business vendors of a private IT firm who were rewarded with the trip for achieving their corporate targets. The group had set out from Delhi in two cars, with seven people in the vehicle that eventually crashed and five in the other.

Akhilesh Singh, a member of the group, told police that the car suffered a punctured tyre about one kilometre before the accident site. After the group replaced the tyre and prepared to resume the journey, Singh shifted to the other vehicle. When the first car failed to catch up, the remaining members called their colleagues and learned of the collision.

Rampur Superintendent of Police Somendra Meena stated that the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, though initial findings suggest the road may have been dark. Investigators are currently examining CCTV footage from the area.

The sound of the collision alerted local residents, who rushed to the scene to rescue the occupants from the damaged vehicle. Agnihotri, Rajput, and Neeraj Singh were declared dead upon arrival at the community health centre, while Hekmatyar succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Hekmatyar’s brother, Saddam Hussain, mentioned that Hekmatyar had left their rented home in Azadpur, Delhi, on Friday evening. Hussain had expressed concern about the trip due to monsoon risks, but Hekmatyar reassured him that their destination in Uttarakhand was not a hilly area.
