Greater Noida Receives 17 mm of Rain as Moderate Showers Lash NCR

On Sunday, July 5, 2026, moderate rainfall lashed several parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region, including Greater Noida, bringing much-needed relief to residents from the humid weather conditions.
According to official data released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Greater Noida recorded 17 mm of precipitation till 2:30 p.m. The sudden wet spell helped to cool down the area after a period of intense humidity.
The rainfall was spread across various sectors of the National Capital Region. The IMD reported that Chhatarpur recorded the highest precipitation in the entire region, receiving 49 mm of rainfall by 2:30 p.m.
Other neighbouring areas also experienced significant downpours. Gurugram recorded 35 mm of rain, while Mehrauli registered 18 mm of precipitation. In other parts of the region, Najafgarh recorded 8 mm of rain and Janakpuri saw 7 mm of rainfall during the same timeframe.
Earlier on Sunday morning, the metropolitan region recorded a minimum temperature of 29.2 degrees Celsius. The weather department noted that this minimum temperature was 1.3 notches above the seasonal average. Humidity levels were also high, with the relative humidity standing at 77 percent at 8:30 a.m.
For the remainder of Sunday, the weather department forecast a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain during the day. The IMD predicted that the maximum temperature for the day was likely to settle around 36 degrees Celsius.
In addition to the weather changes, the region's air quality remained stable on Sunday. The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 162 at 3:33 p.m., according to data from the Sameer app.
This reading kept the air quality in the area within the 'moderate' category. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) classifies any AQI reading between 101 and 200 as 'moderate'.
