Fourth suspect arrested in Shahbad Dairy café song dispute murder

The Delhi Police have arrested the fourth and final suspect in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old man following a dispute over changing a song at a café in Shahbad Dairy, outer Delhi.
The arrest of 20-year-old Amit Kumar on Saturday comes weeks after the violent clash on June 18, which resulted in the death of Kali Charan and left his friend injured.
According to the police, the incident occurred while Charan, who worked odd jobs to support his family, was dining at the Shahbad Dairy café with his friends. A heated argument broke out between Charan's group and another group of men after Charan's friends changed the song that was playing at the venue.
The opposing group allegedly threatened Charan and his friends before leaving the café. However, they returned a short while later with more associates to launch an attack.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Shobhit D Saksena said the group returned and attacked Charan and one of his friends with knives. The victims sustained multiple injuries to their head, hands, waist, and abdomen.
Both injured men were rushed to BSA Hospital. Charan succumbed to his injuries during treatment, while his friend survived the attack and is currently in a stable condition.
Following the murder, the Delhi Police registered a case and formed multiple teams to track down the suspects. Investigators relied on eyewitness accounts, technical surveillance, local intelligence, and raids at suspected hideouts.
While three of the accused were arrested last month, Kumar had been absconding. He was finally apprehended on Saturday using technical and manual surveillance.
Saksena confirmed that with Kumar's arrest, all four suspects involved in the murder have been taken into custody. The other three arrested individuals were identified by police as Ashwin, 18, Abhishek, 18, and Mukul, alias Nata, 20.
According to the police, all four suspects are school dropouts and residents of Mangolpuri. Investigators have also seized one knife allegedly used in the crime.
Further investigation is currently underway as police work to recover additional evidence and complete the forensic analysis.
