Former Saket Student Aditi Chauhan Joins World Cup Broadcast as Football Expert

Former India goalkeeper Aditi Chauhan, an alumna of Amity International in Saket, is currently serving as the only female football expert on Zee5's World Cup television panel. Chauhan, who retired from professional football in 2025, has transitioned to broadcasting after a historic career that saw her become the first Indian footballer to play in the English women's league.

Chauhan's journey to the national stage began in Saket, where she attended Amity International School. Mentored by coach Ramesh Kumar Kanojia, she made a rapid rise through the sports ranks. By the time she was in Class XI at the Saket school in 2009, she had secured a spot on India's under-19 national team. She soon progressed to the senior national side, helping India win South Asian championships and earning 57 caps for her country.

Originally a basketball player, Chauhan transitioned to football after her coach suggested she try out as a goalkeeper for the under-19 Delhi trials. Despite not knowing the rules or techniques at first, she was selected as the third-choice keeper, sparking a career that would span two decades.

In 2013, Chauhan moved to England to pursue an MSc in sports management at London's Loughborough University. During her time in England, she earned a spot with West Ham Ladies in the third division, making her the first Indian woman to play in the English football league. That same year, in 2015, she was named Woman Footballer of the Year at the Asian Football Awards.

Her career was not without setbacks. In 2017, she suffered a severe Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury that required surgery and nine months of rehabilitation in Delhi. She recovered to play for India again and signed for the Icelandic club Hamar Hveragerdi, though visa issues prevented her from playing there. A second ACL injury in Chennai in 2022 sidelined her for another two years.

Chauhan officially retired from professional football in 2025 after completing a final season with the Kolkata-based club Sribhumi FC in the Indian Women's League.

Today, in addition to her broadcasting role, Chauhan runs "She Kicks," a women-centric football academy she founded in Dwarka to help train the next generation of female players.
