Diljit Dosanjh Distances Himself From Jantar Mantar Protest Over NEET Controversy

On Wednesday evening, Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh distanced himself from the ongoing protest by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. Speaking during an Instagram live session, the actor and singer rejected calls to join the demonstration, which is being held over alleged exam irregularities and the NEET paper-leak controversy.
During the live broadcast, Dosanjh responded to questions from fans regarding whether he would join the CJP at the protest site. He firmly rejected the idea, stating that he is an artist rather than a politician.
"Keep me away from all this. Bro, I’m an artist. I’m no politician, I don’t know what you think I am," Dosanjh said during the session.
He then quoted a line from the Guru Granth Sahib: "Nanak dukhiya sab sansar, so sukhiya jis naam aadhaara." He explained the quote to mean that everyone in the world is dealing with sadness, and only those who rely on God are happy.
Dosanjh further clarified his neutral stance on the ongoing demonstrations. "Look, everything in this world can never be right. So, those who are protesting, congratulations to them, and for whom the protest is happening, congratulations to them also, as I don’t know anything," he added.
The Cockroach Janata Party has been staging protests at Jantar Mantar since June 20. The party is demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan following the recent controversy surrounding the NEET paper leak.
While Dosanjh supported the 2020 farmers' protest against the now-repealed farm laws, he has recently resisted calls to enter the political sphere. In May this year, a civil society group appealed to him to join politics, which he publicly ruled out. At the time, he posted on X, "My job is to entertain people. I’m very happy in my field. Thank you so much."
His latest statement reaffirms his decision to stay out of political matters and focus entirely on his career in entertainment.
