Dia Mirza Recalls Salman Khan Predicting She Would Play His Mother On Screen

Actress Dia Mirza has revealed that co-star Salman Khan told her she would play his mother on-screen one day when she was just 19 years old. Mirza shared the anecdote during an appearance on filmmaker Farah Khan's YouTube vlog.
The interaction occurred on the sets of their 2002 film 'Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge'. Mirza recalled sitting with Salman Khan and Rajpal Yadav while waiting for a shot. After noticing that the actress cast to play Khan's mother on-screen had just given birth, Mirza remarked that she must be quite young. In response, Khan joked, "don't worry, this will happen with you also."
During the vlog, Farah Khan suggested that Mirza and Salman Khan should reunite for a project. Mirza laughed, hinting at the industry's age-gap casting standards by saying, "But now he will work with girls who are..." before Farah interrupted to point out that Khan was currently working with Chitrangada.
Farah also teased her cook, Dilip, suggesting that Mirza was going to play Khan's mother in a future project. Dilip remarked that Mirza would look more like Khan's younger sister, prompting Farah to ask why she could not look like his heroine instead.
The vlog also featured Mirza showing Farah around her Mumbai home, which she purchased at age 19 using her earnings from 'Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge'. Mirza described the property as her personal sanctuary and noted it was the first house owned by any woman in her family.
Additionally, the duo reminisced about filming the movie's song 'Bindiya Chamke, Choodi Khanke' in Jaipur, which was choreographed by Farah. They recalled the chaotic shoot where a crowd of roughly two lakh people gathered, forcing them to finish filming in half a day. Farah noted that Mirza had to change her outfits behind trees due to the lack of vanity vans on set.
Released in 2002 and directed by Pankaj Parashar, 'Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge' starred Salman Khan, Dia Mirza, Sushmita Sen, and Arbaaz Khan.
