Delhi University opens registration for first batch of one year PG courses

The University of Delhi (DU) in New Delhi has commenced the admission process for the first batch of its new one-year postgraduate (PG) programmes. The first phase of registrations for the courses officially opened on July 5, marking a significant shift in the university's academic structure for the upcoming 2026-27 academic session.

This is the first time the university is offering a one-year PG programme. Previously, up until the 2025-26 academic session, DU only offered two-year PG programmes. The introduction of the shorter postgraduate option is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

According to an official statement issued by the university, eligibility for the new one-year PG courses is limited to specific candidates. Only students who have completed a four-year undergraduate programme (FYUP) under the undergraduate curriculum framework (UGCF) 2022 from the University of Delhi are eligible to apply.

Admissions to these programmes will be entirely merit-based. The university stated that the selection of candidates will be determined by the marks obtained by the applicants during their FYUP.

The registration process is structured to be conducted in two distinct phases. During the first phase, all eligible candidates are required to register on a dedicated admission portal. To complete this initial registration, applicants must log in using their DU enrolment number and their date of birth.

As part of the first phase of registration, applicants must also pay an application fee. The university has set the fee at ₹250 per programme for candidates applying under the unreserved category. For candidates belonging to reserved categories, the application fee is ₹100 per programme.

The second phase of the registration process will begin at a later date. The university announced that this next phase will commence once the results of the eighth semester of the undergraduate programmes are officially declared.

With the opening of the portal on July 5, eligible students from the university's undergraduate framework can now begin submitting their applications for this newly introduced academic pathway.
