Delhi University Opens 2026 Admissions With Guidance For 20000 CBSE Students

The University of Delhi commenced the first phase of undergraduate admissions for the 2026-27 academic session on June 26, 2026, offering a clear pathway for nearly 20,000 CBSE Class 12 students who are currently awaiting their re-evaluation results.

The university has opened registrations on its Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal, allowing these students to apply using their pre-evaluation marks. This measure ensures they do not miss out on securing one of the more than 71,000 available undergraduate seats across 73 programs in 67 colleges.

The admission process applies to candidates who appeared for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) 2026. Interested candidates can register on the CSAS portal through their CUET UG application number at ugadmission.uod.ac.in.

Addressing the concerns of students waiting for revised CBSE marks, DU Dean of Admissions Haneet Gandhi advised candidates to input their pre-evaluation scores during registration. These marks can be updated on the portal once the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) officially releases the revised results.

"Class 12 CBSE students who have applied for re-evaluation but have not yet received their revised scores should enter their pre-evaluation marks in the CSAS portal. They can update their marks once the revised results are declared. Students need not worry, as the CSAS portal will remain open for several weeks, giving them ample time to make the changes," Gandhi told Asian News International (ANI).

Gandhi also reassured applicants that Class 12 marks have a limited role in the overall admission process. She clarified that the university primarily needs to ensure a student has passed Class 12, and that the board marks are only utilized as a tie-breaker.

Admissions are determined based on CUET UG scores, and applicants must meet the program-specific eligibility criteria outlined in the university's Information Bulletin 2026.

In the subsequent second phase of the CSAS process, candidates will be required to map their CUET subjects with the subjects they studied in Class 12 before submitting their program and college preferences. The university stated that the schedule for Phase II will be announced separately.
