Delhi Trade and Taxes Department Mandates Dress Code and Strict Conduct Rules

The Trade and Taxes Department in New Delhi has recently issued a circular directing all of its officers and employees to strictly adhere to a professional dress code, maintain office decorum, and follow discipline guidelines while on duty.
The new circular, which was issued by the department's Special Commissioner, underlines the critical importance of professional conduct in order to ensure an efficient, dignified, and citizen-friendly work environment within the public department.
Under the newly issued guidelines, all officials and staff members are now required to wear decent, sober, and appropriate clothing. The circular explicitly states that the attire worn by the employees must reflect the overall dignity of public service. Consequently, casual or inappropriate attire, which the department noted is inconsistent with the decorum expected at government offices, has been specifically discouraged by the administration.
Beyond personal attire, the department has also instructed all of its employees to maintain professional behavior when they are interacting with colleagues, visitors, and members of the common public.
Another directive included in the circular specifically requires officials to work only from their designated workstations. The unauthorized occupation of another employee's chair or desk has been strictly prohibited, unless such an arrangement is specifically permitted for official reasons.
Furthermore, the circular stresses the need for maintaining cleanliness, orderliness, and a conducive working atmosphere across all of the department's office spaces.
To ensure these new rules are followed, the heads of various branches and the ward in-charges have been made directly responsible for ensuring compliance with the instructions by all personnel working under their supervision. The circular concludes with a clear warning that any violation of these guidelines may attract disciplinary action from the department.
