Delhi to launch month-long door-to-door electoral roll revision on June 30

Delhi will launch a month-long Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of its electoral rolls starting June 30, deploying more than 13,000 booth level officers across all 13 districts of the capital for a massive door-to-door verification drive. The initiative, led by Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Ashok Kumar, aims to update the voter list by including all eligible citizens and removing ineligible names.

To prepare for the exercise, the Chief Electoral Officer's office has been conducting training sessions for booth level officers (BLOs), supervisors, and representatives from major political parties, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Communist Party of India (Marxist). The training is scheduled to conclude on Thursday.

During the door-to-door survey, which will run until July 29, BLOs will physically visit households to verify voter details. Residents will be required to fill out and submit a physical enumeration form. This form will contain details related to the previous SIR conducted in 2002. Voters must hand over one copy of the form to the visiting BLO and obtain an acknowledgement receipt.

According to guidelines issued by the electoral office, online submissions through the ECINET portal will not replace physical verification. BLOs are mandated to conduct physical house visits to verify identity, age, address, and supporting documents, even if a resident has submitted their details online.

The officers will also identify cases of duplicate, shifted, deceased, or absent voters. Any discrepancies found during the verification process will be updated directly through the BLO mobile application.

Following the completion of the door-to-door campaign, the draft electoral rolls will be published on August 5. Citizens can file claims and objections between August 5 and September 4, with authorities scheduled to resolve these cases by October 3. The final electoral roll for Delhi is set to be published on October 7.

According to the electoral roll published during the 2025 assembly elections, Delhi currently has 15,524,858 registered voters, comprising 8,349,645 men, 7,173,952 women, and 1,261 third-gender voters.
