Delhi rehab supervisor Sarabjit Singh hacked to death with sword in Uttarakhand

A Kalkaji resident working as a supervisor for a Delhi-based rehabilitation centre was hacked to death with a sword in Mudiya Pistaur, Bazpur, in Uttarakhand on Wednesday night. The victim, identified as Sarabjit Singh, was attacked at approximately 11:00 PM while leading a team to escort an addict back to the New Delhi facility.

According to the police, the incident occurred when a team from the Sambandh Samiti rehabilitation centre in New Delhi arrived at the residence of the accused in Mudiya Pistaur, located in the Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand. The family of the accused man had requested the rehabilitation centre's team to visit their home and admit him for treatment.

However, when the team reached the house to secure the man, the accused allegedly turned violent and attacked the members with a sharp weapon. Singh was critically injured during the sword attack. He was immediately rushed to a local government hospital in Bazpur for emergency medical attention.

Due to the severity of his injuries, Singh was later transferred to an advanced medical facility in Kashipur. He was declared dead on arrival by the doctors at the Kashipur facility, police said.

Naresh Chauhan, the Bazpur Station House Officer (SHO), confirmed that a murder case has been registered and the accused has been arrested. Chauhan stated that the victim's body was sent for a post-mortem examination. Following the autopsy on Thursday, the body was handed over to Singh's family.

Singh, a resident of the Kalkaji neighbourhood in New Delhi, had been employed as a supervisor at the Sambandh Samiti rehabilitation centre for five to six years. He is survived by his son.

The Bazpur police are continuing their investigation into the attack. Chauhan added that further legal action will be initiated after the police thoroughly examine the post-mortem report and other evidence collected from the scene.
