Delhi Police Probe Online Racket Selling Fake Aadhaar Cards For Rs 20

The Delhi Police have launched a comprehensive cyber investigation into an organized online racket operating in New Delhi that generated highly realistic forged government documents, including fake Aadhaar cards for Rs 20 and voter ID cards for Rs 15.
According to police sources, the fraudulent operation first came to light during routine cyber patrolling and social media monitoring by the department's technical team. A preliminary inquiry pointed to a sophisticated, organized network producing these fake identification cards. The network facilitated their use to obtain and update genuine identity cards and other official documents, such as PAN cards, from legitimate authorities.
The fraudulent website allegedly offered a wide array of forged documents to its users. These included forged residence certificates, caste certificates, voter identity cards, birth and death certificates, Aadhaar-related documents, and other supporting records. The platform functioned by allowing users to enter any personal details of their choice, which were then generated onto the fake templates after the users made online payments.
Police stated that the fake Aadhaar and voter ID cards closely resembled genuine government-issued documents in their format, design, and general appearance. To make the forged documents look highly legitimate, they also featured QR codes and barcodes that appeared authentic.
A police source explained that the modus operandi of the gang aimed at facilitating identity fraud, impersonation, and the cheating of government authorities, banks, and financial institutions. By allowing individuals to create false documentary records, the network enabled them to bypass security checks at various institutions.
During the initial phase of the investigation, a police officer took active steps to verify the fraudulent website's operations. The officer created an account on the platform using a fictitious identity. The officer then recharged the account's digital wallet with Rs 100 through the payment gateway provided on the website to confirm how the transactions were processed.
