Delhi Police Impound 20 Tractors for Illegal Debris Dumping in East Delhi

The Delhi Traffic Police’s eastern range and east district police intercepted and impounded 20 tractors during a late-night joint enforcement crackdown in the east district of New Delhi. The operation was launched to curb the illegal dumping of construction debris on busy roads.

The joint drive followed persistent complaints regarding tractors illegally transporting and dumping construction waste on busy stretches during the night. Police officials noted that this unauthorized activity had become a recurring problem in the area, posing safety risks to commuters and causing damage to public infrastructure.

During the enforcement action, officials booked all 20 intercepted tractors under Sections 5 and 15 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. The vehicles were also charged under relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and impounded for further legal action.

According to officials, the illegal dumping of construction waste on public roads represents a serious violation. The discarded debris obstructs traffic flow, compromises overall road safety, damages roads and other civic infrastructure, and negatively impacts the environment.

Furthermore, the dumped waste creates hazardous conditions for motorists, especially at night when debris left on the main carriageways can easily lead to road accidents.

Police officials stated that this late-night operation is part of a larger, sustained campaign to eliminate illegal dumping and strictly enforce environmental and traffic regulations throughout the capital.
