Delhi Police Grant Cockroach Janta Party Permission to Protest at Jantar Mantar

On Saturday morning, June 6, 2026, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke arrived at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi, where police granted him official permission to hold a one-day sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar to demand the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Dipke arrived at the airport at around 7:30 a.m. after traveling from the United States via London. Wearing a black jacket and a cap, he completed immigration formalities before being stopped inside the airport by a team of Delhi Police officials who questioned him regarding his plans. Outside gate number 16, CJP members and supporters gathered to await his exit.
While Dipke had originally planned to secure protest permission at the Parliament Street police station, officials facilitated the approval directly at the airport to prevent potential chaos. Vichitra Veer, the Deputy Commissioner of Police for IGI Airport, handed Dipke the official permission letter after obtaining his signature on a routine declaration.
The authorized permit allows the CJP to conduct their demonstration at Jantar Mantar, which is a designated protest site located approximately 20 kilometers from the airport. According to the terms of the agreement, the sit-in must take place strictly between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The administrative process inside the airport caused a delay, prompting some waiting supporters to allege that Dipke had been detained at an undisclosed location. However, police sources indicated that Dipke was taken to a private chamber for "counselling" and to discuss his intentions regarding the protest call.
At approximately 9:15 a.m., Dipke exited the airport through the VIP lane. His departure faced a brief 30-minute delay when airport staff initially refused to let his taxis enter the VIP area, but police officials intervened to allow three cabs access.
Upon his exit, CJP members presented Dipke with a copy of the Constitution of India. Carrying the document, Dipke spoke to those gathered, saying, "The education minister must resign…five students committed suicide."
While traveling to the protest site, Dipke hosted an Instagram Live broadcast, advising his followers to remain peaceful. He instructed supporters to give flowers to police and security personnel to thank them for their service and to ensure the group's first protest remained entirely peaceful.
