Delhi Police arrest two men for drugging and robbing auto passengers on Naraina Road

The Delhi Police have arrested two men for allegedly drugging and robbing commuters after luring them into an auto-rickshaw near the Janki Dass bus stand on Naraina Road. The arrests of Raj Kumar, alias Raj, and Kasim, alias Salman, followed a detailed investigation into a complaint lodged on June 27.

According to the police, the gang targeted unsuspecting commuters waiting at bus stands by offering them cheap shared rides. Once the passengers boarded the vehicle, the suspects would gain their confidence and offer them cold drinks laced with intoxicating tablets. After the victims lost consciousness, the men would steal their valuables and abandon them in secluded locations.

The investigation began after a victim filed a complaint on June 27. The complainant reported that while he was waiting at the Janki Dass bus stand on Naraina Road, an unknown man persuaded him to share an auto-rickshaw.

During the ride, another individual boarded the vehicle and offered the complainant a cold drink. The drink was mixed with an intoxicating substance, causing the victim to quickly pass out.

While he was unconscious, the accused stole his mobile phone, approximately Rs 15,000 in cash, a backpack, and other personal belongings. The suspects then abandoned the unconscious victim at an isolated spot.

Following the report, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Rohit Rajbir Singh formed a specialised team to track down the perpetrators. The police team reconstructed the route taken by the auto-rickshaw on the day of the incident.

Officers spent three days analysing CCTV footage from the route, which eventually led to the identification of the specific auto-rickshaw used in the crime and its driver, Raj Kumar.

During police interrogation, Raj Kumar confessed to the crime and provided information that led officers to his accomplice, Kasim. Both suspects have been taken into custody, halting the gang's operations.
