Delhi Police Arrest Rohit Lamba Gang Member Near Dwarka Mor for Najafgarh Knife Attack

The Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested 22-year-old Aditya Kumar, a key accused in a June 26 attempt-to-murder case in Najafgarh, after laying a trap near Dwarka Mor. The arrest, which was announced on Saturday, ends a multi-week search for Kumar, an alleged member of the Rohit Lamba gang who had been on the run since the knife attack on a rival gang member.
According to police officials, a team from the Western Range-II unit of the Crime Branch mounted technical surveillance and laid a trap near the Dwarka Mor area after receiving a tip-off. Kumar was reportedly on his way to meet an associate when officers identified him. Although he attempted to flee upon spotting the police team, officers overpowered him after a brief chase.
The arrest stems from a violent confrontation on June 26 linked to an ongoing rivalry between the Rohit Lamba gang and the Mohit Bhardwaj, alias Monu, gang. On that day, Rohit Lamba, Aditya Kumar, and another associate, Ritik Thakur, allegedly intercepted Afjal, who is believed to be associated with the rival Monu gang.
Investigators stated that the group demanded to know Monu's whereabouts from Afjal. When Afjal denied having any information, Lamba allegedly pointed a pistol at him while Thakur attacked him with a knife. Kumar allegedly held the victim down during the assault.
Afjal sustained injuries to both of his legs during the attack. The suspects fled the scene after noticing bystanders approaching. Following the incident, an FIR was registered at the Najafgarh Police Station under Sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
While Kumar managed to evade capture for weeks by constantly shifting his hideouts, his associates, Rohit Lamba and Ritik Thakur, were arrested by the Najafgarh Police on June 28 following a brief exchange of fire.
During police interrogation, Kumar revealed that he met Rohit Lamba approximately three years ago while working at a Reliance Store. Lamba, who projected himself as a member of the Ashok Pardhan gang, later inducted Kumar into his criminal network.
Police officials noted that the rivalry between the two gangs had intensified after Lamba was attacked by rivals about six weeks prior to the June 26 incident. Investigators believe the assault on Afjal was motivated by Lamba's suspicion that Afjal had tipped off Monu about his movements.
