Delhi LG Urges Sensitive Policing At Kingsway Camp Commissionerate Day Parade

On Wednesday, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu addressed the Commissionerate Day Parade at the Parade Ground in Kingsway Camp, calling for more sensitive, citizen-centric policing with a strong focus on the safety of women and children.
During the event, the Lieutenant Governor took the ceremonial salute and reiterated that ensuring the safety of the Capital remains the foremost objective of the Delhi Police.
To enhance safety for female commuters, Sandhu highlighted plans to introduce women bus drivers accompanied by possibly armed women constables on select transit routes.
Addressing traffic management, Sandhu stated that stricter enforcement must be paired with public cooperation and behavioural changes to stop violations like wrong-side driving, triple riding, and riding without helmets.
Commissioner of Police Satish Golchha presented key crime statistics during the parade, noting that crimes against women in the city have declined by nearly 17 percent. The detection rate for these crimes has reached 98 percent, with nearly 95 percent of cases being charge-sheeted within the prescribed time limit.
According to Golchha, heinous crimes have decreased by 8 percent compared to 2025, while offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita have fallen by 12 percent. Motor vehicle thefts and other thefts also saw a significant reduction.
The Commissioner also shared that the police have identified 123 narcotics hotspots under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. Furthermore, the Delhi Police will designate July as Child Safety Awareness Month to focus on youth protection.
The parade featured 18 platoons representing various units of the Delhi Police and was commanded by ACP Kshitij Kumar. During the ceremony, the Lieutenant Governor also presented the ‘Ahat Veer Samman Patra’ to honour police personnel who were injured or killed in the line of duty.
