Delhi High Court Upholds Telegram Ban Till June 22 Over NEET Paper Leak Concerns

The Delhi High Court has upheld the government's decision to suspend Telegram services across India. The suspension will remain in place until June 22, 2026, following concerns regarding the platform's role in facilitating fraud during the NEET (UG) re-examination.

In its ruling, the court found the government's actions to suspend the messaging application to be justified. The court noted that Telegram’s specific architecture allows for the rapid dissemination of content across its network. Because of this feature, the court observed that simply taking down targeted channels or specific content would be insufficient to prevent leaks.

The suspension of the messaging application is intended to protect and ensure the integrity of the nationwide medical entrance exam. The court's decision was reported on June 20, 2026, amid ongoing efforts to secure the examination process.
