Delhi Government proposes 900 crore project to build 27 schools including Rohini

The Delhi Government and the Directorate of Education (DoE) have proposed a ₹900-crore project to construct 27 new permanent, modern government school campuses on vacant plots across the city, including Rohini. This initiative aims to expand Delhi's educational infrastructure by establishing fully functional school environments.

To execute the project, the Directorate of Education has invited proposals from central public sector undertakings for the construction and development of the campuses. The initiative is designed to transform vacant plots into modern educational spaces to serve local communities.

According to government plans, the entire project is scheduled to be completed over a period of 18 months. This timeline is divided into two phases, comprising three months for planning followed by 15 months for actual construction.

The proposed school campuses will be designed to conform to the latest building bye-laws and will align with both DoE and CBSE norms. This ensures that the new structures meet all standard educational and safety guidelines.

An official stated that the campuses will be developed as fully functional institutions. Each site will be equipped with classrooms, laboratories, libraries, multipurpose halls, and administrative blocks.

Furthermore, the project guarantees that all critical infrastructure works will be finished prior to the schools opening. This includes all civil, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire safety, networking, landscaping, and interior works.

The government has selected 27 vacant sites across various zones, including north, north west, west, south, and south west Delhi.

Alongside Rohini, the other identified locations for the new campuses are Narela, Bawana, Bhalswa, Salempur Majra, Dariyapur Kalan, Mundka, Sawda Ghevra, Shalimar Bagh, Bakkarwala, Hastsal, Shyam Vihar, Nangli Vihar, Qutabapur, Kapashera, Jaffarpur, Jaunapur, Satbari, and Asola.
