Delhi Cop Dinesh Yadav Rescues Two Nigerian Women From Burning Malviya Nagar Hotel

Delhi Police Head Constable Dinesh Yadav rescued two Nigerian women trapped inside a burning hotel bathroom in South Delhi's Malviya Nagar on Wednesday. Yadav, who suffered burn injuries and cuts during the hazardous rescue operation, was treated and discharged from AIIMS after receiving stitches on his hands and feet.

Yadav, who is stationed at the Malviya Nagar police station, rushed to the scene on his motorcycle after receiving the emergency call. Due to dense crowds blocking the road, he was forced to leave his bike behind and run to the burning building on foot.

Upon arrival, Yadav found the front of the hotel completely engulfed in flames. While searching for an alternative entry point, he spotted two women waving for help through a small three-by-two-foot bathroom window on the side of the building.

Yadav quickly positioned a ladder and climbed up to the window. He initially tried to shatter the glass with his bare hands, injuring himself in the process. After someone handed him a hammer, he successfully broke the window, squeezed his 90 kg frame through the small opening, and entered the smoke-filled bathroom.

Inside, Yadav found two Nigerian women—a medical patient and her caretaker. The women had turned on the shower to protect themselves from the heat, but thick smoke was rapidly filling the room.

Although the patient told Yadav to save her caretaker first because she believed she would not survive, Yadav managed to lift her onto his shoulder and pass her through the window to people waiting below. He then climbed back inside to rescue the caretaker.

Following the rescue, Yadav struggled to breathe due to his sinus problems and the dense smoke, nearly losing consciousness on the bathroom floor. Thinking of his eight-year-old daughter, he found the strength to drag himself to the window and climb down, despite bleeding from cuts on his hands and feet.

After escaping, Yadav and other police personnel continued to assist in rescuing more trapped guests, including a Nigerian couple.
