Child in ICU After Mob Attacks Residents in Mayur Vihar Phase-3

A group of miscreants went on a rampage in East Delhi's Mayur Vihar Phase-3 on Sunday evening, July 13, 2026, injuring 10 to 15 residents after locals objected to the alleged harassment of a young woman. The violent assault, which was recorded on CCTV around 9:25 pm, has left a 10-year-old child in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU).

The attackers reportedly entered the residential society armed with stones and wooden sticks, some of which had nails embedded in them. The assault triggered widespread panic in the residential area.

According to eyewitnesses, the confrontation began when some residents objected to a young woman being molested. In response, the accused returned with associates and unleashed violence across the society, pelting stones and attacking people they encountered.

The sister of the injured 10-year-old boy shared details of the attack, stating that her brother had gone with their 27-to-28-year-old cousin to take photographs when he was targeted. She stated that attackers hit her brother with stones from behind, causing a blood clot and leaving him in critical condition.

She added that her family observed three men carrying out the assault. One of the accused is allegedly a resident of the Gharoili area in Mayur Vihar Phase-3. The family has handed over photographs of the suspect to the authorities.

Local Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Kuldeep Kumar visited the spot on Sunday night to interact with the residents. He raised questions about the law-and-order situation in Delhi, noting that the incident occurred despite a police outpost being located just 500 metres from the housing society. Kumar urged Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to ensure the immediate arrest of those involved.

The Delhi Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Officials are currently scanning CCTV footage from the area and gathering eyewitness accounts to identify and apprehend the attackers.
