Centre Approves ₹9,585-Crore Scheme to Replace 2 Lakh BS-IV Vehicles in Delhi-NCR

The Central Government of India has approved a ₹9,585-crore scheme to replace over two lakh polluting BS-IV commercial vehicles in the Delhi-NCR region. The environmental initiative is aimed at significantly reducing vehicular pollution across the metropolitan area, which includes Noida.
Under the newly approved plan, the government will target the replacement of more than 2,000,000 (two lakh) high-emission commercial trucks and buses. These vehicles, which adhere to the older BS-IV emission standards, are recognized as major contributors to the region's air pollution challenges.
The allocation of ₹9,585 crore will fund the transition of these heavy commercial vehicles to cleaner alternatives. By phasing out these older buses and trucks, the Centre aims to address the persistent issues of poor air quality that affect residents throughout Delhi-NCR.
Specific timelines for the implementation of the scheme and details on the transition process for commercial vehicle owners have not been specified. The Central Government will oversee the rollout of the initiative across the capital region.
