Centre Approves ₹1,647 Crore for 28 Delhi Infrastructure Projects

The Central Government has approved 28 major infrastructure projects proposed by the Delhi government under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme, which includes key developments like the Karawal Nagar flyover and the Barapullah Elevated Corridor. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Sunday, July 12, 2026, that the Centre has allocated ₹1,647 crore for these projects, alongside an additional financial incentive of ₹756 crore to accelerate development works and improve public facilities in the capital.

According to an official statement by Chief Minister Gupta, the additional incentive of ₹756 crore was approved by the Centre to recognise the Delhi government's efforts to enhance capital expenditure (CAPEX) through its own resources. Gupta stated that the total funding would be used to speed up construction and upgrade public amenities across Delhi.

The approved projects under the SASCI scheme focus heavily on the city's transport network. Key projects include Delhi Metro works, the Barapullah Elevated Corridor, and the Karawal Nagar flyover. The funding will also support the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) depots, as well as various other road infrastructure works.

Under the SASCI scheme, the Central Government provides interest-free financial assistance to States and Union Territories to support major infrastructure projects. The program also offers financial incentives to encourage strategic reforms and drive increased capital investment by local governments.

To ensure that the construction work begins without delay, the Delhi government's Finance Department has been directed to coordinate with all the concerned departments. Chief Minister Gupta added that this coordination is aimed at ensuring construction progresses swiftly so that the residents of Delhi can benefit from the completed projects at the earliest.
