Bodies of Sector 31 woman and gym trainer recovered from Agra Canal near BPTP bridge

The Faridabad police have launched an investigation after the bodies of a 32-year-old woman and her 24-year-old gym trainer were recovered with their hands tied from the Agra Canal near the BPTP bridge in Faridabad on Sunday evening, July 12, 2026. The discovery of the bodies, alongside an abandoned car containing a blood-stained hammer, has triggered a murder probe.
The deceased have been identified as Rashmi, a resident of Sector 31 in Faridabad, and her gym trainer, Akash. Their bodies were found near Shahpur Kalan village, located approximately 16 kilometers from the BPTP bridge, following an intensive search operation.
According to the police, Rashmi had been missing since Saturday afternoon, July 11, 2026, when she left her home in her car around 2:00 p.m. to meet Akash. Her husband, Shivam Kumar, had previously filed a police complaint accusing Akash of harassing Rashmi. Kumar alleged that although Akash had apologized after being confronted in the past, the harassment had resumed over the ten days leading up to the incident.
On Saturday, authorities received reports that a man and a woman had jumped off the BPTP bridge into the Agra Canal. Local police teams searched the area but were initially unable to locate them. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was subsequently brought in to conduct a more intensive search, which led to the recovery of the bodies on Sunday evening.
Faridabad police spokesperson, Sub-Inspector Yashpal Yadav, stated that both victims had facial injuries and were bleeding, and Rashmi had an additional injury to the back of her head. Their hands had been tied together using a data cable.
Rashmi’s car was found abandoned near the BPTP bridge. Upon searching the vehicle, police officers discovered and seized two mobile phones and a blood-stained hammer.
The bodies were sent for an autopsy on Monday evening, July 13, 2026, and have since been handed over to their respective families.
While Akash's family has alleged a murder conspiracy behind the deaths, Sub-Inspector Yadav noted that police have not yet found definitive evidence to support this claim. Doctors conducting the initial assessments suggested that the injuries on the bodies might have been sustained during the fall into the canal. The investigation remains ongoing as police attempt to reconstruct the events leading to the deaths.
