Blue Line breakdown strands Vaishali commuters while Noida services run normally

Train services on the Delhi Metro's Blue Line were disrupted for nearly one and a half hours on Tuesday evening due to an overhead equipment failure between Anand Vihar and Vaishali stations. While the technical breakdown stranded thousands of evening rush-hour commuters, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) confirmed that regular train services remained completely uninterrupted on the key stretch connecting Noida Electronic City to Dwarka Sector 21.
The major disruption began at 5:20 pm, right as the peak evening commute was getting underway. According to the DMRC, train operations on the busy section between the Anand Vihar and Vaishali stations had to be completely halted so that maintenance teams could safely carry out restoration work on the damaged overhead equipment.
To maintain some level of passenger transit, the DMRC operated single-line services for a period of time between the Yamuna Bank and Anand Vihar stations. This measure ensured partial connectivity for commuters in the affected area while the technical teams worked on resolving the overhead equipment failure.
The nearly 90-minute suspension of services caused significant inconvenience for thousands of office-goers trying to return home. Major crowding was reported at several metro stations along the transit line. Many stranded passengers took to social media to share videos and photos showing heavily congested platforms and packed station areas.
Normal train services on the Anand Vihar to Vaishali section were eventually restored at 6:43 pm after the successful completion of the restoration work by DMRC engineers.
While commuters on the Vaishali branch faced severe delays, those using the main Noida branch of the Blue Line experienced a normal commute. The DMRC stated that regular train operations between Noida Electronic City and Dwarka Sector 21 were completely unaffected by the technical snag and continued to run on their normal schedule throughout the evening.
