Bhogal Flyover To Close Nightly On Four Dates For Delhi Meerut RRTS Construction

The Bhogal flyover on Mathura Road will temporarily close during late-night hours on four upcoming dates for Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) construction, prompting traffic diversions through Lajpat Nagar and surrounding areas.

The Delhi Traffic Police announced that the flyover, which connects Ashram Chowk with the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station area, will be entirely shut to traffic between 12:00 AM and 4:00 AM on June 25, June 27, June 29, and July 2.

The nightly closures are required to allow the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) to install massive steel structures. A senior official explained that a major girder launching operation is being undertaken for the RRTS project, requiring a complete stoppage of traffic to ensure the safety of both commuters and construction workers.

The elevated RRTS corridor passes directly over the Bhogal flyover. The current work aims to connect the Sarai Kale Khan Namo Bharat station with an upcoming stabling yard in Jangpura, which is one of the final infrastructure pieces needed to complete the Delhi section of the corridor.

Because the Bhogal flyover is a key link on the busy NH-44 corridor, the closure is expected to impact local traffic. The Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory directing commuters to alternative routes during the four-hour work windows.

For vehicles traveling between Ashram and central Delhi, authorities recommend using Lala Lajpat Rai Marg. Commuters traveling beyond Bhogal are advised to use Ring Road via either Moolchand and Lajpat Nagar, or the ITO corridor.

Additionally, travelers heading to the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station during the closure periods are advised to start their journeys early to account for potential congestion and diversions.

An NCRTC spokesperson stated that the work was scheduled specifically between midnight and 4:00 AM to minimize disruption. Once finished, the Jangpura facility will serve as a maintenance and parking yard, improving transit access for nearby neighborhoods.
