Alisha arrested for strangling husband Mustakeem in Rashid Market

A 20-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly strangulating her 19-year-old husband to death with her dupatta during a physical fight in East Delhi's Rashid Market in the early hours of Thursday. The incident, which took place in front of the victim's mother, reportedly escalated from a dispute over suspicions of an extramarital affair.

The deceased has been identified as Mustakeem, who worked as a delivery executive for a quick e-commerce company. His wife, Alisha, is a homemaker. The couple had been married for just six months before the fatal altercation occurred.

According to law enforcement officials, the police received an emergency call regarding the incident at 3:52 AM on Thursday. Upon arriving at the residence, officers immediately shifted Mustakeem to a nearby hospital, where he was officially declared brought dead by the medical staff.

Following the incident, a murder case was registered under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Jagatpuri police station. Police officers launched a search and subsequently arrested Alisha, who was found at a nearby gurdwara.

During questioning, Alisha claimed that her husband suspected her of having an extramarital affair. According to her account, Mustakeem had taken possession of her mobile phone during the night to search for evidence of the affair, which led to a heated argument and subsequent physical fight between the couple.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Rajendra Prasad Meena stated that the confrontation turned physical when Mustakeem allegedly assaulted Alisha. In a fit of rage, Alisha sat on Mustakeem's chest and strangulated him to death using her dupatta.

An investigating officer added that Mustakeem’s mother was present during the altercation and actively tried to intervene to stop the violence, but her efforts were in vain. The police have since seized the dupatta allegedly used in the crime as physical evidence.
