NHAI Opens 9-Km DND Flyway to Jaitpur Expressway Stretch on Trial Basis

The National Highways Authority of India has opened a 9-km stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway link between DND Flyway and Jaitpur on a trial basis. The operational section is designed to provide direct connectivity for commuters travelling from Noida, Ghaziabad, and parts of south and east Delhi toward Faridabad and the wider expressway network.
Nearly 8.5 km of the new 9-km link is elevated. The stretch has been made accessible to motorists without toll charges during the trial phase. Officials said that the trial runs commenced following the completion of construction work and safety audits, allowing engineers to observe traffic flow and address any operational issues ahead of a formal commissioning.
The DND-Jaitpur section completes Delhi's direct access corridor to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Prior to this opening, 50 km of the total 59-km link running from DND Flyway to the junction with the Western Peripheral Expressway, also known as the KMP Expressway, had already been made operational in phases.
The new corridor is expected to ease vehicular congestion along Ashram, Kalindi Kunj, Ring Road, and Mathura Road by diverting traffic heading towards Faridabad, Ballabhgarh, and Sohna. The journey between DND Flyway and Faridabad is estimated to take around 20 minutes along the new route.
The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway was initially planned to start from Sohna to JNPT near Mumbai, but NHAI proposed extending the alignment to DND Flyway in August 2018 to establish a direct link with the capital region. Motorists using the corridor can continue toward destinations including Jaipur and Sawai Madhopur, while a direct link between the expressway and Noida International Airport is also currently under development.
