30-Year-Old Dance Teacher Rescued After Jumping into Yamuna in Kalindi Kunj

A 30-year-old dance teacher was rescued from the Yamuna River near Bhola Ghat in southeast Delhi's Kalindi Kunj area on Friday night after he allegedly jumped into the water due to severe financial stress over unpaid iPhone instalments.
The incident occurred at around 8:30 pm on Friday. Police personnel on patrol in the area were alerted that a man had leaped into the river. A team was dispatched to the location immediately and informed the flood department, which promptly sent a rescue team with a boat.
Rescuers spotted the man in the river and pulled him to safety.
According to police, the man is a resident of Okhla, where he lives with his wife and two children. Alongside his work as a dance teacher, he also takes up gardening jobs to support his household.
During questioning following the rescue, the man told officers that his income had dropped significantly over the past few months. The decline in his earnings made it impossible for him to keep up with the monthly instalment payments on his iPhone, creating severe financial pressure and distress.
Police officers counselled the man after the rescue operation. His wife and brother-in-law were called to the police station before he was allowed to return home.
