Jewellery Worth Over ₹2 Crore Stolen From Parked Car on Karol Bagh's Arya Samaj Road

Gold and diamond jewellery valued at more than ₹2 crore was stolen from a car parked on Arya Samaj Road in Delhi's Karol Bagh on Tuesday evening, August 19, after thieves smashed the vehicle's rear window while the occupants were away having dinner.

The complainant, Kanhaiya Lal, a jewellery businessman associated with SKG Kundan Crafts, had arrived in Delhi on August 18 along with his son Dhruv Soni and a staff member for business-related marketing work. The group was carrying three backpacks containing gold and diamond jewellery, a laptop, and Aadhaar cards, alongside a suitcase containing clothes.

On the afternoon of August 19, Lal visited several jewellery establishments at the M-Block Market in Greater Kailash. Later that evening, he drove to Karol Bagh and parked his car opposite Canara Bank on Arya Samaj Road at around 5:30 pm.

Lal, his son, and the employee left the backpacks and the suitcase inside the vehicle before heading to a nearby Bikanervala restaurant for dinner. When they returned to the spot at around 7:15 pm, they discovered that the rear window of the car had been smashed and all three backpacks and the suitcase were missing.

According to the complaint filed with the police, the stolen backpacks contained gold and diamond jewellery worth over ₹2 crore, along with the laptop and official identity documents.

Delhi Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are actively scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding stretch of Arya Samaj Road to identify the suspects involved in the theft.

Investigators are also reviewing the movements and travel route of Lal and his team from Greater Kailash to Karol Bagh to determine whether they were tracked or followed by the thieves before parking the vehicle. Further police efforts are underway to trace the accused and recover the stolen valuables.
