FSSAI Suspends Delhi Marche Retail Licence for 30 Days Over Food Safety Lapses

NEW DELHI — The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has suspended the licence of Delhi-based Marche Retail Pvt Ltd for 30 days following the discovery of serious food safety violations during regulatory inspections.

The food safety regulator announced the enforcement action on Sunday through a social media post, confirming that the company has been directed to cease and desist from all food business operations until the identified non-compliances are fully rectified.

According to the FSSAI, the suspension was ordered after an inspection and subsequent scrutiny of Marche Retail's business premises uncovered major lapses under food safety regulations.

The regulatory body identified multiple deficiencies at the establishment, including issues related to premises design, operational controls, sanitation standards, personal hygiene, food-handler training, and mandatory record-keeping.

The enforcement action is part of stepped-up regulatory measures by the FSSAI against non-compliant food businesses across the country. In a related action, the regulator also issued a prohibition order against Daman-based SDP Industries Pvt Ltd, banning the sale of all its ghee variants over adulteration concerns and non-compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, following sample examinations of brands including Shraddha, Shree Saras, and Gokul.

Marche Retail will remain prohibited from carrying out any commercial food operations until all specified shortcomings are corrected to the satisfaction of the food safety authority.
