Delhi Traffic Police Restrict Roads Around Parliament From July 20 For Monsoon Session

The Delhi Traffic Police has announced special traffic arrangements and restrictions in New Delhi ahead of the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament, which is scheduled to take place from July 20 to August 13, 2026.

In an advisory shared on X, formerly Twitter, the traffic police warned of heavy vehicular movement and traffic curbs in and around the Parliament area. The special arrangements will commence on July 20, 2026, under the jurisdiction of the New Delhi Range. Commuters have been strongly advised to plan their journeys in advance, allow for extra travel time, and avoid the affected areas during peak hours to prevent delays.

To prevent congestion, authorities have asked commuters to avoid several major roads in the vicinity of the Parliament. The list of roads to avoid includes Rafi Marg, Motilal Nehru Marg, Maulana Azad Road, K. Kamaraj Marg, Raisina Road, Rajendra Prasad Road, Parliament Street, Ashoka Road, Talkatora Road, Pandit Pant Marg, and Rakab Ganj Gurudwara Road.

Additionally, the Delhi Traffic Police highlighted several key junctions and locations that drivers should steer clear of during this period. These include Vijay Chowk, Boat Club, and the roundabouts of Rail Bhawan, Sunehri Masjid, Patel Chowk, Boota Singh, Prime Chowk, GRG, and Jalebi Chowk.

For those needing to travel through the area, the advisory suggested utilizing alternate routes. The recommended list of alternative roads includes Janpath, Vinay Marg, the Outer Circle of Connaught Place, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, and the roundabout at RML. Other suggested routes are Man Singh Road, Akbar Road, Teen Murti Marg, Shanti Path, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad Road, 11 Murti, Sardar Patel Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent Road, Kamal Ataturk Marg, and Panchsheel Marg.

The Delhi Traffic Police post on social media emphasized the importance of planning ahead, stating: 'Plan your journey in advance and allow extra travel time. Avoid the affected roads and junctions during peak hours.'
