Adobe Software Engineer Killed in Nihal Vihar After Domestic Dispute, Four Detained

A 31-year-old software engineer working with Adobe in Noida died on Friday following a violent confrontation at his residence in Nihal Vihar after a domestic dispute with his wife. Police have detained four individuals in connection with the fatal assault.

The deceased, identified as Vinay Gupta, lived with his wife Rekha and their four-month-old twins, a boy and a girl. The couple had been married for approximately three-and-a-half years. According to Gupta's family, an argument broke out on Friday morning over who would apply medicine to blisters on one of their infant children. Rekha allegedly refused to do so and told Gupta to attend to the child.

Gupta's sister, Kirti, stated that Rekha left the house following the argument and returned about 10 minutes later with her brothers and other relatives. Gupta's father, Premchand, said he initially believed the relatives had come to talk through the matrimonial dispute, invited them upstairs, and offered them water.

The situation turned violent upon Gupta's arrival. Gupta's mother, Renu, alleged that she and her husband attempted to intervene but were pushed aside. Kirti alleged that the relatives assaulted and strangled Gupta, claiming that some sat on his chest during the attack. The family also stated that Gupta's brothers-in-law had threatened him on previous occasions.

Gupta sustained critical injuries in the attack and was transported to a hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. While the family alleged the assault was pre-planned, police are still investigating the circumstances.

CCTV footage from the area showed a car arriving at the residence carrying the alleged assailants, while another clip captured an injured man being brought out of the house and seated on a chair.

Police have detained four suspects: Gupta's wife Rekha, her brothers Raju Jindal and Ved Prakash Jindal, and Raju's wife Poonam. A case is being registered under Sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, covering murder and common intention. Investigators are questioning the four detained suspects to establish the precise sequence of events and individual roles in the assault.
