Three Delhi Policemen Injured in Mukundpur Attack; 17-Year-Old Held

Three Delhi Police personnel were injured after a group threw chilli powder into their eyes and assaulted them with bricks and sticks in northwest Delhi’s Mukundpur area on Saturday afternoon. A 17-year-old juvenile was apprehended in connection with the incident.

The attack took place around 3:30 pm in Janta Vihar, located under the jurisdiction of the Bhalswa Dairy police station, while police officers were conducting routine patrolling duties in the neighbourhood.

According to police officials, Head Constables Dinesh and Rajesh were patrolling the beat when they intercepted a motorcycle that lacked valid documentation. Following the inspection, the officers took the two-wheeler to the police station for deposition under Section 66 of the Delhi Police Act.

Trouble began shortly after the two head constables returned to their patrol beat around 3:30 pm. A group of people, which included the owner of the seized motorcycle and his family members, confronted the officers over the seizure.

The confrontation quickly turned violent as members of the group allegedly threw chilli powder directly into the eyes of the policemen. The attackers then proceeded to assault the officers using bricks and wooden sticks.

Head Constable Tinu, who rushed to the location to assist his colleagues during the altercation, was also attacked and injured by the mob.

All three policemen sustained injuries during the clash, with Head Constable Dinesh suffering a head injury. The injured personnel were subsequently taken for medical treatment and their conditions are reported to be stable.

With the assistance of local residents at the scene, police managed to apprehend a 17-year-old juvenile from the spot. The other members of the group involved in the assault fled the area following the incident.
