Three Policemen Injured in Chilli Powder, Brick Attack in Delhi's Mukundpur

Three Delhi Police personnel were injured after a group of people threw chilli powder into their eyes and attacked them with bricks and sticks in the Janta Vihar area of Mukundpur, located in Delhi's Bhalswa Dairy area, on Saturday afternoon.

The confrontation began around 3:30 pm following the seizure of a motorcycle during routine patrolling and checking. According to the police, the two-wheeler was being operated without valid documents and was subsequently impounded and taken to the local police station.

Shortly after the seizure, the owner of the motorcycle along with family members confronted the police personnel on duty. The situation rapidly escalated into violence when the group threw chilli powder at the officers and attacked them using bricks and sticks.

Two head constables, Dinesh and Rajesh, were the initial targets of the assault. A third officer, Head Constable Tinu, who rushed to the location to assist his colleagues, was also attacked by the mob.

All three policemen sustained injuries in the incident, with Head Constable Dinesh suffering a head injury. The injured officers received medical treatment and their condition is reported to be stable.

With the assistance of local residents, police managed to apprehend a 17-year-old juvenile at the scene. The remaining suspects fled the area immediately after the assault, and law enforcement teams are working to track them down.

Delhi Police have identified Sunil, also known as Pankaj, as the main accused and primary aggressor in the case. Police stated that Pankaj is a listed bad character of the area with five prior criminal involvements, including heinous offences and two cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

A criminal case has been registered at the Bhalswa Dairy Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is currently underway as police continue efforts to arrest the remaining suspects involved in the attack.
