24-Year-Old Woman Dies By Suicide In Nangloi After Recording Video Alleging Harassment

A 24-year-old woman named Tina died by suicide on Tuesday afternoon at her matrimonial home in the Nangloi area of outer Delhi. Before her death, she recorded a video on her mobile phone in which she alleged ongoing harassment and ill-treatment by her in-laws.
The Delhi Police arrived at the residence on Tuesday after receiving information about the incident. Upon arrival, officers found Tina hanging from a ceiling fan inside her in-laws' house. The body was subsequently taken into custody and sent for a post-mortem examination.
While no written suicide note was recovered from the scene, investigators discovered a video clip on Tina's mobile phone. The video, which is over three minutes long, features Tina narrating her ordeal and addressing her parents, husband, and other family members.
In the recorded footage, Tina can be heard telling her father that she was "leaving." She urged her parents not to fight over her death and asked them to take custody of her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter. She expressed a clear wish that her child should not be handed over to anyone else, specifically mentioning her husband.
Tina had been married for approximately two-and-a-half years and lived in Nangloi with her husband, who is employed in the private sector. The couple shared a one-and-a-half-year-old daughter.
According to police sources, Tina alleged ill-treatment by her husband's family in the video. "I only wanted a small family. I never practised any black magic," Tina stated in the recording. She also described her husband as unstable and expressed that she could no longer live with him.
The police have registered a case based on statements recorded before the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM). Further investigation into the case is currently underway to determine the circumstances leading to her death.
