Three Held After Cab Driver Stabbed to Death in Krishna Nagar

Delhi Police on Sunday arrested two men and apprehended a 17-year-old minor in Krishna Nagar, East Delhi, after a 40-year-old cab driver was stabbed to death during a robbery attempt on Friday night. The deceased victim was identified as Vijay Kumar, a resident of West Vinod Nagar in east Delhi.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Rajendra Prasad Meena, the suspects had planned the robbery in advance after consuming liquor together on Friday. The absconding suspect booked the cab using the 20-year-old suspect's mobile phone, setting the destination for V3S mall near Nirman Vihar.

While the vehicle was travelling near the Chitra Vihar traffic signal, the 19-year-old suspect overpowered Kumar from behind. The 20-year-old suspect and the absconding suspect then stabbed the driver, inflicting serious injuries.

Following the attack, the 17-year-old minor took control of the vehicle and drove towards Krishna Nagar. Members of the public who witnessed the incident chased the car. Upon reaching a metro pillar near the East Azad Nagar traffic signal, the suspects abandoned the cab with the critically injured driver inside and fled the scene.

A passerby noticed the vehicle and reported the incident to the police. Officers responded to the spot and rushed Kumar to the nearby Hedgewar hospital, where medical staff declared him dead on arrival. The Krishna Nagar police station subsequently registered a case of murder.

Police identified and apprehended the three suspects using technical evidence and local intelligence. Investigators also recovered the knife used in the crime, which the accused stated was procured from the absconding suspect.

A background check revealed that the 20-year-old suspect was previously involved in four criminal cases, including robbery and snatching, while the 19-year-old suspect had one past case against him. Police stated that search efforts are currently underway to track down and arrest the remaining absconding suspect.
