Delhi Police Order Removal of Offensive Posts Targeting PM Modi

The Delhi Police on Monday stepped up monitoring across social media platforms and directed intermediaries to remove posts and videos containing offensive and abusive remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The action follows student protests over the NEET paper leak at Jantar Mantar and violence reported during the 'Sansad Chalo' march on July 20.

Officials stated that several crude comments, videos, and posts featuring abusive language directed at the Prime Minister surfaced across digital platforms during the demonstrations and subsequent violence in the national capital. Following notices issued by law enforcement authorities, social media intermediaries have already taken down a number of the flagged posts and videos.

The Delhi Police's specialized social media monitoring team has been continuously scanning online platforms to track down objectionable content. Under the established process, once offensive or rule-violating material is detected by the cyber team, formal notices are dispatched to the respective social media intermediaries, instructing them to pull down the content.

Police confirmed that the digital monitoring exercise remains active as protests continue in the city. Cyber and social media teams are maintaining continuous surveillance over online activity related to the NEET paper leak demonstrations to identify any additional offensive posts and ensure appropriate action is taken against content violating applicable rules.
