Cleanup Begins at Delhi's Jantar Mantar Following Protest and Pradhan's Exit

Jantar Mantar in Delhi began returning to normalcy as extensive restoration and cleanup operations commenced following the end of a weeks-long protest and the exit of Pradhan. Fresh paint was applied over walls that had been covered in slogans and messages during the demonstration, while police restricted public access to the main central protest zone to allow cleaning work to proceed.

The central section of the site, which includes the main stage area, remained completely out of bounds for visitors. Main entry points to the central zone were blocked off, with police officers on site confirming that cleaning was in progress. Security personnel actively stopped visitors who attempted to access the restricted central area by finding alternate routes.

As part of the effort to restore the site, a group of citizen volunteers from different parts of India came together to clean the surroundings. The volunteers picked up garbage bags and systematically collected the waste and litter left behind after days of large public assemblies. They also actively encouraged other people present in the area to assist with the cleanup.

In the surrounding streets around Jantar Mantar, local business activity began returning to normal after several days of disruption. Street shops reopened their doors, with shopkeepers expressing relief at being able to conduct business again after the neighborhood remained heavily crowded for days. Food vendors selling snacks and ice cream also returned as visitors continued arriving at the site.

Even as physical signs of the protest were being removed, some reminders of the events remained visible near the site. A car with shattered windows stood parked nearby, while several injured visitors returned to the area, demonstrating that the impact of the past weeks could not be completely erased despite efforts to restore normalcy.

Visitors continued to gather at Jantar Mantar throughout the day despite the restrictions in place around the location. As scattered groups of people gradually formed into a larger crowd, police personnel stepped in and began dispersing people from the site.
