IIT Delhi M.Sc. Physics Student Dies After Fall from Sixth Floor on Campus

A 31-year-old M.Sc. Physics student died after allegedly jumping from the sixth floor of a building on the IIT Delhi campus on Saturday morning, according to the police.

The Kishangarh police station received a Police Control Room call regarding the incident at approximately 8:33 am on August 22, reporting that a student had jumped from a building within the institute's premises.

Police personnel rushed to the location immediately and moved the injured student to the IIT Delhi campus hospital, where attending doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.

During the preliminary enquiry, investigators identified the deceased as a 31-year-old student enrolled in the M.Sc. Physics Department at the institute.

Police enquiries revealed that the student entered the IIT Delhi campus through the main gate at around 8:00 am. He subsequently proceeded to the Lecture Hall Complex, took an elevator up to the sixth floor, and jumped from the front side of the building towards the complex area.

A specialized crime team and a Forensic Science Laboratory team were called to the spot to carry out an inspection and collect evidence.

Police stated that no apparent injury marks other than those resulting from the fall were detected during the examination. No suicide note was recovered from the scene.
