Fake Delivery Agents Rob Ashok Vihar House of Rs 75 Lakh at Knifepoint

Four men posing as delivery agents entered a house in northwest Delhi’s Ashok Vihar on Wednesday, held a 56-year-old woman at knifepoint, and robbed approximately Rs 75 lakh in cash, police said.

The robbery occurred around noon as the woman was preparing to take lunch to her husband at his factory. According to police, the suspects approached the house under the pretext of asking for drinking water before forcing their way inside.

Once indoors, the intruders tied the woman's hands and legs and threatened her with a knife. They spent nearly 30 minutes ransacking the premises to locate the cash before escaping from the area on motorcycles.

After the men fled, the victim managed to alert her husband, who then contacted the authorities. A Police Control Room (PCR) call regarding the incident was received later in the afternoon.

Investigators are currently examining security cameras in the neighbourhood to identify the suspects and establish their escape route. A police officer stated that teams are scanning CCTV footage across the locality to trace the motorcycles used by the gang.

Girish Jain, the former general secretary of the local Residents' Welfare Association (RWA), said the family had saved the stolen funds for their daughters' upcoming weddings. He noted that the daughters were not present at home when the robbery took place.

Jain also mentioned that prior to the incident, two of the suspects had been seen sitting in a nearby public park and had previously approached a domestic worker at another nearby house to ask for water.
