Bike-Borne Men Snatch Rs 50 Lakh Gold Jewellery Bag From Karol Bagh Courier

Two motorcycle-borne men snatched a bag containing gold jewellery estimated to be worth Rs 50 lakh from a 45-year-old jewellery firm employee who was travelling from Karol Bagh on Tuesday. The incident occurred while the employee was stopped at a red light at the Simon Bolivar Marg-Sardar Patel Marg junction in central Delhi.
According to police, the victim had collected the jewellery from Karol Bagh and was transporting it on his scooter towards Vasant Kunj in southwest Delhi. A senior police officer stated that the gold ornaments were being transported to be shown to a prospective customer in the area.
While the employee was waiting for the traffic signal to change at the intersection, two unidentified men riding a motorcycle approached his two-wheeler. The men allegedly grabbed the bag containing the jewellery and fled the spot immediately.
Following the incident, the 45-year-old employee reported the matter to the Chanakyapuri police station, where a formal complaint was lodged. Multiple police teams have since been formed to identify and trace the suspects and recover the stolen jewellery.
Investigators are currently examining closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from cameras installed at the Simon Bolivar Marg-Sardar Patel Marg junction and surrounding roads to track the movements of the accused before and after the snatching took place. Eyewitnesses present in the area are also being questioned by the probe teams.
Police officials noted that investigators are specifically working to ascertain whether the accused had followed the complainant all the way from Karol Bagh or targeted him after spotting the bag during his transit across the city. A search operation is currently underway to catch the culprits.
