Delhi Police Tightens Border Checks and Drone Surveillance Ahead of BRICS Summit

Delhi Police has asked neighbouring states to intensify border security and share intelligence on suspicious movements ahead of the upcoming BRICS Summit in New Delhi. The security measures aim to prevent breaches during the three-day event scheduled to take place from September 11 to September 13.

The directives were issued during an interstate coordination meeting held on Thursday at the Delhi Police headquarters. The high-level session was chaired by Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar to review and align regional security preparations.

Senior police officials from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chandigarh attended the meeting. They were joined by senior Delhi Police officers representing key divisions, including law and order, the special cell, traffic, security, crime, transport, and intelligence units. Representatives from the Intelligence Bureau and the Special Branch were also in attendance.

A primary focus of the discussions was preventing unauthorised movement across Delhi's borders. Police leadership urged neighbouring forces to ensure the prompt exchange of advance intelligence concerning suspicious individuals and vehicles approaching the capital.

Authorities also outlined plans for intensified checking at designated entry points and detailed verification procedures for suspect persons and transport. In addition, officials discussed the close monitoring of drones and other flying objects operating from open areas across the region to maintain airspace security throughout the summit.
